Here you see a 1906 postcard of Rockport harbor, published by Detroit Publishing Co., and below it the actual photograph that was the source of the postcard’s image. The photograph is from the Library of Congress collection.
The Detroit Publishing Company was once one of the largest U.S. postcard publishers and was considered to have some of the finest images. Today, many of its images can be found in the Library of Congress and other prestigious library collections. It began producing postcards in 1897 and continued to do so until 1924, when financial difficulties forced the company into receivership.
